Superior: The B-25 Berlin Express, a part of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s historic plane collection, will offer rides to the public from the Richard I. Bong Memorial Airport Oct. 13-15. Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior kicks off its Yellowjacket Family Fun Days in the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse at the Marcovich Wellness Center. The free event will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and will feature members of the UWS women’s hockey and women’s basketball teams. Children will be able to play floor hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball and compete in races. Batting cages will be available, as well as yard games and crafts. Attendees will receive an autograph card that will also include a coupon for a free scoop of custard from Culver’s in Superior, as well as a free youth ticket to a future Yellowjacket home game.
Superior: The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse presents a “Paws for a Cause” pet walk to highlight October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The walk takes place from noon to 4 p.m., starting at Broadway Park on the corner of Broadway Street and Hammond Avenue. Participants are encouraged to bring their dog and wear purple. Parkland: The Parkland Volunteer Fire Department hosts a kids day Halloween party from 1-4 p.m. at 4279 S. Staples Ave. The family-friendly event includes a bike giveaway, safety information, games, prizes, free food, treats and a chance to see trucks and gear. Open to the public. Superior: The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse, Inc. hosts the “No Time To Spare” Bowl-A-Thon. Register your team to bowl and ‘strike out’ domestic violence. Shifts will start at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Village Lanes, 6419 Tower Ave., Superior. The entry fee of $100 per team includes five bowlers, lane, shoe rental, pizza and drink. The event will include door prizes, and 50/50 and meat raffles. Team prize categories include: Highest Team Score, Most Pledge Money Raised, Creative Team Vibe, Individual Low Score. Virtual: The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being will host J. Roxanne Prichard presenting “Sleeping Well in the 21st Century: A How-to Guide for Better Health” at 4 p.m. Prichard will share the six dimensions of sleep health; describe the most common causes of poor sleep; discuss how good sleep supports mental and physical health and performance; and give practical ways to improve sleep. Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host 75 employers from the Twin Ports and beyond as part of a free Fall Career and Internship Fair for students, alumni and the community from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union. Employers will be available to meet, network with and recruit students for full-time, part-time and internship positions.

Gordon: The Gordon Fire Tower will host an open climbing day from 1-4 p.m. at the fire tower, 9469 E. Bass Lake Road. Members of the public are invited to climb 100 feet up to the cab of the historic tower and explore the grounds of the site, which is operated by the nonprofit Friends of the Bird Sanctuary.
