Channel 4 chaos as Gogglebox moved from usual slot in schedule shake-up
Gogglebox viewers are used to leaning back to enjoy the Channel 4 series every Friday night at 9pm.
However, due to the England football game against Australia this evening, viewers will have to wait. Coverage of the Friendlies game begins at 7pm on Channel 4 and will go on for three hours. Gogglebox was pushed out of its regular slot and will now be airing at 10pm. The channel’s news programme also had to change slots and air an hour earlier at 6pm.
Other Channel 4 programmes have been affected by the match. Earlier this week, it was announced that The Great British Bake Off’s schedule will be affected. The popular baking competition usually airs on Tuesday at 7pm but will now have to be aired on Wednesday at 8pm.

Meanwhile, viewers recently complained about Gogglebox and accused them of airing too many spoilers. At the end of last month, viewers took to social media to complain after seeing spoilers from Sex Education, The Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and Blankety Blank.
One viewer complained: “I do love #Gogglebox, BUT, bloody hell, the ‘spoilers’ proper p**s me off sometimes! I know, I know, it’s my own fault for not watching stuff quicker ‘n that, BUT, for f**k’s saaake!” While another wrote: “Gogglebox is the biggest spoiler show in the world.”
A third penned: “I know the ending now though…. Gogglebox gave spoilers.” Someone else was quick to comment, defending the popular programme on Channel 4: “Gogglebox shows the week TV so yes Spoilers, not rocket science.” The complaints came as Gogglebox viewers were introduced to two new faces, Elaine and Seb.
Audiences quickly voiced their approval of the duo, with one viewer sharing on X: “Liking them already, can’t wait to see more of them on the show.” Another happy fan welcomed them to the Gogglebox family, while another commended their performance, stating, “They’re doing a grand job.” During the episode, Elaine and Seb discussed his impending graduation and Elaine shared her thoughts on her outfit for the significant event.
The arrival of Elaine and Seb comes after the departure of Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig, who had been part of the show for ten years. A statement issued by Stephen read: “After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.
“We would like to thank both Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show. We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them and of course, the fans, thank you for all of your love and support over the years.”
