Drug Take Back day being held nationwide on Oct. 28
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana State Police is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency for a drug take back day Saturday.
There will be collection sites set up nationwide for expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs as part of the “Prescription Drug Take Back” initiative. The program tries to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft.
According to a news release Tuesday, the program is for liquid and pill medications. Vaping pens without batteries and vaping cartridges will also be taken. Needles, whether new or used, won’t be accepted.
The service is free and anonymous.
Disposing of unused medicines like flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash is a health hazard, according to a news release.
